Attachment Is A DisEase Of The Heart
The elders say, attachment is the disEASE of the heart. You see in the holy odu of Okanran in the Ifa Corpus, the sacred ways of Olodumare of the Yoruba people from Yorubaland in Modern day Nigeria, Okanran is about what our heart is desiring. What the heart is desiring can sometimes be beneficial for the body, for the being. But often times, the heart desires from a set of conditions, from a set of programming. Sometimes from fear and child hood wounds and trauma. The heart sometimes desires from How the person is meant to be, how the world around them is meant to be.
You see, a heart that is full of fear will only desire based on fear. Like knows like. A heart that is full of love will only desire based on love. And sometimes even unhealthy love can be dangerous. When we love and can never let go, it becomes attachment. Attachment is never good for anyone or anything. A mother that loves her son too much, can create an adult that is not independent of the mother. As we all know this is not a healthy condition for a grown up man looking to flourish, thrive, grow, experience and explore life.
Okanran warns of how our heart desires, sometimes foolish heart desires can be dangerous for all of existence. Just because one hates their neighbours does not mean they do not deserve to exist. We have seen situations where people have been killed, because of other people’s strong desire to eliminate them. May your heart desires not lead you astray. May Okanran always show you the truth of your heart desires. May your heart desires be pure and healthy. May your heart desires nourish you and provide all that you need, deserve and want.
