Every Obstacle Presents An Opportunity, if you condition Your Mindset that way

Catastrophe! Bang! Chaos! Confusion! Loss! Bereavement! Financial Difficulty! Disaster! Delay! Time! Hardship! Blockage! Hinderance! Impediment! Restriction! Block! Barrier! Interference! Hurdle! Hardship! Whatever may be what you call the “obstacle” to achieving a goal, can also present many opportunities for achieving the goal differently. Perhaps maybe in a new way that you hadn’t thought of before or planned. Sometimes called “thinking outside the box”. You see an opportunity is defined in a dictionary as “a situation or condition favourable for attainment of a goal.”

Every situation where there is an obstacle, presents an opportunity for the attainment of the goal in a different way. For example,

Your goal = get to the river to bath in the river.

You have been to the river many times, you know exactly how to get to the river. As you travel to the river, you feel the heat on your skin and the dryness of the air, it is a warm day yet the sun is not shinnng bright. You see the lush green trees on the way as you get closer to the river, the atmosphere is cloudy and looks a little dusty. You are happy, smiling, as you’ve had a great morning, and you enjoy bathing in the cool waters of the river. The thoughts of how you are going to enjoy bathing in the cool river again comes up as you take steps closer to the river.

The closer you get you can hear the sound of the river flowing, you can see the river just below as you drop down further down from the hill. You know a few more steps you will arrive at your destination, to deep and bathe in the cool waters of the river. As you arrive at the corner, to turn right and walk a few more steps down the rocks to the river, there is what is called an “obstacle” in the way in the form of a pack of wolves. You stop to take in the obstacle, you are now maybe feeling shocked, surprised, maybe a little afraid or even some what disappointed because you really wanted to get to the river to achieve your goal to bath in the river.

You assess the situation, you see the danger and disruption that will ensue from carrying on the same way to the river. Now you are presented with a situation that requires a new decision to be made. If your mindset is not conditioned to see the opportunity presented in the “obstacle”, you may decide to go back home, give up your goal of getting to the river to bathe in the river, try another time, feel disappointed, and maybe feel fear that subconsciously prevents you from going back to the river again in the future.

However, because you have conditioned your mindset to spot opportunities when there are what are called “obstacles” along the way, you take some moment to assess the situation, you stay calm and quiet so the pack of wolves are not disturbed or notice you. You decide in order to achieve your goal of getting to the river to bathe in the river, you will find another path to the river away from the wolves. After all it is a big river, if you can get further away from the wolves you will still be able to achieve your goal.

Quietly you take a different path, being mindful not to disturb the wolves, feeling brave and undisturbed, you arrive at the river, from a different point to where you would normally get there. It presents you a new feeling and a new perspective, with a smile on your face and sweat dripping down your body, still feeling the heat and humidity, you slowly arrive at your destination. You dig your feet into the river, immersing all of your body as you enjoy bathing in the river. You cool off, all the memories you share with the river comes back, the memories of cooling off, relaxing, cleansing, being still, cleaning, happiness, joy and just the enjoyment that comes with bathing in the river. You are satisfied, happy and also proud of yourself that you made it to the river, not allowing anything to stop you from achieving your goal, even a pack of wolves.

Now you have another way to get to the river, that you would not have been discovered, if not for the pack of wolves that became the “obstacle”, on the other path to the river that you normally take. You feel empowered, more knowledgable and wise, and you decide you will explore a different path to get to the river without an obstacle. On the way back home feeling well and happy, you notice two giant frogs that you wouldn’t have seen if you took your normal path to the river. And other things along the way, you feel grateful for the journey, smiling as you walk back home.

To condition your mindset, to the way of spotting opportunities, when there is an “obstacle” in the way, is to give yourself every opportunity to never give up on achieving your goal, on achieving your dreams. Some people are naturally gifted, blessed to never give up on achieving a goal/their dreams no matter the condition, obstacles or situation. And some people have to be trained, or conditioned to spot opportunities when obstacles are present and never give up their goals and dreams.

Take a moment to check if you are blessed or gifted in this way, or if you require training or conditioning to never give up achieving your goals/dreams that are important to you. Do this with no judgement, just as a way to help you personally develop or assess where you are. It is also wise to know that sometimes achieving the goal may not be the purpose, as the universe may be presenting you with a new destiny/destination. This is where discernment comes in, knowing when to keep going no matter or when to stop is deep wisdom.
